7 Things to Do the Day Before Your Hypnosis Session (Checklist)

Hypnosis does not require belief. It does require a little preparation. The subconscious responds better when your body is settled, your space is quiet, and you have given yourself permission to show up without an agenda. These 7 steps make that easier. In person in Bethesda, MD, DC, and VA, and online nationwide.

1. Clear Your Schedule (Even Just a Little) Before Your Hypnosis Session

Make space, not just time.
Avoid back-to-back appointments. Give yourself breathing room before and after your hypnosis session for reflection and integration. Your mind will thank you.

2. Choose a Quiet, Comfortable Spot for Your Hypnosis Session

Your environment shapes your experience.
Whether it is your couch, a cozy chair, or your bed, make sure your space is distraction-free and signals calm. Silence notifications. Let others know you will be unavailable.

3. What to Avoid the Day of Your Hypnosis Session

You want to be alert, not wired or wiped.
A light, nourishing meal is best. Skip the stimulants and relaxants the day before and the day of your session, if you can.

4. Review Any Intake Questions or Goals Before Your Hypnosis Session

Clarity creates results.
Spend 10–15 minutes reflecting on your intention for the session. What do you want to shift, release, or gain? Jot it down. Bring it to the session, or you can email it in advance if needed.

5. Do Something Soothing

Get your nervous system into a receptive state.
Stretch, walk, meditate, journal, listen to calming music, or do whatever helps you unwind. Entering your session with a calm baseline deepens the experience.

6. Prep Your Tech for Your Online Hypnosis Sessions

Nothing kills the vibe like tech trouble.
Check your Zoom link. Make sure your device is charged, both your camera and mic work, and your Wi-Fi is stable. Headphones are encouraged for better focus and audio clarity.

7. Sleep Early and Hydrate

Your brain and body need fuel.
Being well-rested and hydrated helps your mind enter a hypnotic trance more easily. A tired, dehydrated brain has a harder time letting go.

Bonus Tip:

Tell Yourself This Before Bed: “Tomorrow, I am opening the door to something new. I am ready.”
This gentle self-suggestion primes your subconscious beautifully.

Most people walk into their first session not knowing what to expect. That uncertainty is normal. What matters is that you showed up. The preparation you do today tells your subconscious that something is about to change. That signal alone starts the work. Ready to book your first session? FAQ

A session has three parts. We start with a conversation about what brought you in, what you have already tried, and what you are hoping to feel or experience differently. Then I guide you into a relaxed, focused state. Then we do the actual work: updating the subconscious patterns connected to whatever you came in to change. The conversation at the start is not small talk. It shapes everything that happens in the session. The more clearly I understand what is going on for you, the more precisely I can direct the work. Most sessions run between 60 and 90 minutes. You leave alert, clear, and usually a little surprised at how straightforward it felt.

You will remember the session. Hypnosis is not unconsciousness. You are aware throughout, the same way you are aware during a deep daydream. You hear what is being said, you can respond if needed, and you surface from the session with a clear sense of what happened. Occasionally someone will lose a detail or two the way you sometimes forget the tail end of a dream. But the work still holds. The subconscious does not need your conscious mind to file away every word for the changes to take effect.

Get a good night of sleep if possible, avoid heavy meals in the two hours before, wear comfortable clothing, and come with a clear sense of what you most want to address. There is nothing else you need to do or bring. You do not need to practice relaxing or clear your mind in advance. Just show up.

You stay in control the entire time. Hypnosis is not something that happens to you. It is something you participate in. Your subconscious mind has a built in filter and will not accept anything that conflicts with your values or your sense of what feels right. You remain aware throughout. You can open your eyes, ask a question, or stop at any point. Nothing gets done to you. We work together toward something specific that you came in wanting to change.

Online hypnosis works just as well as in person. The hypnotic state is created through voice, language, and guided relaxation. None of that requires physical proximity. What it does require is that you are comfortable and in a quiet space where you will not be interrupted. Most clients find they actually go deeper at home than they do in an office because they are already in a familiar, safe environment. The results are the same. The process is the same. The only thing missing is the commute.

Testimonials

"Highly recommend! I signed up due to issues with confidence and public speaking. At first I was skeptical about doing sessions online rather than in person but Irit showed me the value in session from a place in which you are comfortable. My sessions in a short period of time have made life changing impact! I'm so glad I signed up!"

Andrew, Washington DC

"I had such a great experience using online hypnosis to help with my fear of flying. I was honestly very anxious before, but after a few sessions, I felt noticeably calmer and more in control. I recently took a flight and was able to get through it without the overwhelming fear I used to have. It's been a huge relief and made traveling so much easier. Highly recommend for anyone struggling with flight anxiety!"

Ashley S., New Jersey

"I recently had a session with Irit that came with a lot of beneficial spiritual dialogue before going into my past life regression. My past life regression experience was nothing short of spiritually and emotionally liberating. I almost feel like there is very little left in my concerns in my journey. Thank you Irit for the execution of your talent."

Tyrone D., Maryland

"It was easy to like Irit from the moment we first met online. She has a strong but loving personality and is quite skilled at drawing out your vulnerabilities and then helping you empower yourself. She was a great help in addressing my stage fright. I am very grateful to her."

Mark M. Maryland
